CHRISTOPHER LAO'S OFFICIAL STATEMENT: A PUBLIC APOLOGY

My friends are insisting me to write something about the issue of Christopher Lao. But, since my time was very limited in the past few days, I wasn't able to post anything. I was too busy, because, I had to run so many errands. At last, it's my restday! So, here I am, writing about this very famous viral video. Honestly, it became, really viral, even at work. Most of the people are now using the very famous line of CHRISTOPHER LAO, "I SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED"... It's all over the internet, on twitter, facebook, name it! Even some people created Fan pages of him, he was mocked and insulted in different ways. If you haven't watched the CHRISTOPHER LAO'S FLOATING CAR VIDEO, then, watch it first then, tell me of what you think. I also have a copy of CHISTOPHER LAO'S PUBLIC APOLOGY. Before you go on any further, let me remind you that this post is just my personal opinion, nothing more, nothing less, so, read at your own risk...

After this incident, people reacted in so many ways. I, myself, didn't like the way he blamed the people around him when get off his car. At first, I found it funny, because, when I watched it on youtube, I really thought that he was an Inventor of a Floating Car, because, of the "Tittle"... Then, I just got upset when he started blaming everyone. I even told myself that this guy is out of his mind. I wanna ask him, How can't you see the leg high flood right in-front of you? And, Why do you have to blame the MMDA and the bystanders in that area? It's not their obligation to "inform" you, that you are about to submerge your car in a very high flood. There are so many streets and roads that are heavily flooded at that same time, MMDA can't block all the roads in Metro Manila. As a Motorist, we also use our basic instincts or commonsense when driving. And, don't you realize that those people that you were blaming, are the same people who took you and your poor car out of that stinky flood? You are so ungrateful...

Now, let's try to understand the situation. If I did something stupid like what he did. I would be really, really sorry and upset, especially, if it's being caught on camera. I would just blame myself, and possibly, make fun of the situation, to make it lighter. Perhaps, I would just start scratching my head while smiling, as it is being seen on television worldwide. In that way, I can just make the bad situation a good one, and I would just admit my own stupidity. He could have done those things, but, he didn't...

I understand that our initial reaction is to be upset. Simply, you can't really get the sympathy of Filipinos, If you are arrogant. But, let's remember, we are all humans. We commit mistakes, maybe, hidden in the eyes of many, but, not in the sight of God. We don't really know who is CHRISTOPHER LAO, as a person, as a brother or as a friend. People, and anyone, can change. If he did something wrong, then, let him realize it and learn from his mistakes. I guess, what we initially said is enough, let's give this guy a rest. Not just for him, but, for his family, who didn't do anything to you, or said anything against you... Let's stop the spread of hate and negativity. Please, read his appeal below...

Official Statement: 4 August 2011

The past few days have been very disheartening for me and my family. As you know I have been a subject of a viral video that showed my helplessness during a trying moment. As it stands right now, I have several hate pages in Facebook and Twitter with hurtful and derogatory messages attacking my person. The reputation that I built the past years has been besmirched. A bad day has now turned into wounded feelings and sleepless nights for me and my family.

I have been silent the past few days as I want this to go away soon but not before saying sorry and thank you to people who matter.

I would like to apologize for my behavior that was seen on nationwide television and now on the internet. It was unfortunate that I was caught on camera immediately after an overwhelmingly stressful mishap. noypistuff

I would like to again sincerely thank those who braved the flood to help a distraught stranger like me. Their selfless act reminded me of how dependable Filipinos are in times of crisis.

Lastly, I would like to thank my family, friends and all of those who showed empathy, consideration and support throughout these trying times. You have given me strength and courage to rise above and be a better person.

Sincerely yours,

Christopher Lao

I really pity the guy. He was a victim already of the flood now he has to endure all of this crap on the net. Similar to that hacked twitter account issue before of a girl in Dubai. That girl got cyberbullied into hiding before it was known that her account was hacked.

@Kristine -Oo nga, sumikat nga siya, pero grabe naman yung kapalit at kahihiyan... =(

@Allen -Cyber bullying is rampant, not just in the Philippines. But, if this happens in the U.S., I guess, it won't be a big deal. Tnx for dropping by, Allen! =)

@Margaret C -Hello, Marga! Hindi ka yata nanunuod ng news, hehehe! =)

@Mark Hoel Yu -I guess, If I were him, I would rather choose not to be famous, if the results would be like what happened to him... You're welcome, tnx for visiting! =)

If I was him, I'll just accept my mistake, I won't blame it to anyone, I'll advise the people to be more careful and warn them about what happen so it won't happen again, I think this way people won't be as harsh as we can see. His acts causes them to get mad and throw talk shits to him, his tone of voice sounds like there should be someone responsible for it and not him, well I know the government is responsible for this but given that our government is still rising at this time he should have at least practice the use of commonsense. A lot of his friends are saying "don't judge him by his mistakes, etc.", I think they should teach that to him first because he didn't just blame those people at the place at that time but he did judge them. He's lucky some guys helped him push his car, anyway I wish people will be more careful on how they compose a comment because it doesn't only affect a life but worst it can also put someone's life in danger. In the end we're all brothers & sisters, so lets help each other in learning our mistakes. Peace!

may kasabihan na - pag baluktot na ang kawayan, mahirap ng tuwirin. christopher lao is one crooked bamboo. first impression lasts. he has shown his true character to the world. his apology means nothing as he has already shown us his true core.

he has the gall to make a public statement for being such an idiot, and never even takes responsibility for making a decision to drive his car through a road section that is CLEARLY flooded to begin with.

what an idiot !
