I just had an ACCIDENT last Thursday night, a week ago. But, until now, I am still getting sudden jolts and extreme pain, after sitting or lying on my back, even for just a couple of minutes. I tried going back to work, but, it actually made the pain stronger. So, I spoke with my boss, and thank God, I was given a couple of days, of Manager's approved leave. I badly need their consideration, since, this pain is really excruciating. So, I went to an orthopedic, they checked my back and x-ray results. Good thing, there are no fractures or whatsoever! So, the doctor changed my pain killers, and advised me to do things that I'll share with you today!

Coccyx or Tail Bone is a small, soft triangular bone located at the base of the spinal column. Just like what you so on the picture on the upper left. Since, it is a soft kind of bone, it could be easily damaged. Once it gets damaged, like what happened to me when I had an ACCIDENT, it can cause extreme pain if it's irritated, even after a couple of months.

Coccydynia is an inflammation of the tail bone of coccyx. Treatment alone usually takes 3-4 months. What my doctors said are the following:

1. Avoid sitting on flat or hard surfaces, even lying on your back, because, this might irritate the coccyx or tail bone, and could just make the treatment longer.

2. If you need to go back to work, and you'll need to sit in an office chair for a long periods of time, you might wanna get a "DOUGHNUT" shaped pillow or cushion to sit on. And, you have to make sure that your Coccyx or Tail bone is on the whole, to avoid it from contacting the chair or flat surface.

3. Anti-inflammation and Pain killers will really help, especially, when it becomes irritated. Don't self medicate, make sure that you consult your doctor first!

4. Eat lots of high fiber food, to help you soften your poop's, to avoid constipation. Because, if your Tail Bone is damaged, pooping will become very difficult or might cause you pain.

5. Physical Theraphy -This is really important, so they could stimulate the muscles around your coccyx bones. Sometimes, they use Ultra-sound or other gadgets, this will really help.

@alohagems -Oic, Coccyx is just the end bone of the spinal cord, it is also called Tail bone! Tnx for dropping by! =)

@helena -Wow, helen! Hindi kana busy?! I just got from Medical City, nagpunta ako sa rehab nila, for Physical Theraphy. After that, I went to Bambang, I bought TENS and Hot Moist pack, para kahit dito sa house makapag PT ako. I still need to buy Doughnut shaped pillow and the ULTRASOUND thingie, yung ginagamit 'din pang PT. Don't worry, one of these days, magmi meet tayo ng mga katoto nating blogger, hehehe! =)
