NIKON DSLR D5100 PRICE, SPECS AND FEATURES

We all know that it was just a few months ago when NIKON Imaging released the NIKON DSLR D7000. But, a much cheaper version came right after it! Introducing the NIKON DSLR D5100! If you are not familiar with the NIKON DSLR D5000, the LCD only swivels down, unlike this upgraded version. The NIKON DSLR D5100 could be swiveled down and also to the left side. Aside from it, there are so many new and cool features, for a much cheaper price! Let's find out why NIKON DSLR D5100 is one of the best choice.

NIKON DSLR D5100 PRICE, SPECS AND FEATURES

If you are on a tight budget, aside from the specs and features, you will also consider the price. I was eying the NIKON DSLR D7000, when this New NIKON DSLR D5100 caught my attention. I checked the specs and features of the two gadgets, and found it almost the same.

NIKON DSLR D5100 PRICE HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES

NIKON DSLR D5100 Body - P36,000
NIKON DSLR D5100 Kit 18-105mm - P48,500
NIKON DSLR D5100 Twin Lens Kit 18-55/55-200mm - P71,500

If you have no idea how much is the NIKON DSLR D7000 here in the Philippines, it's actually much expensive:

NIKON DSLR D7000 Body Only - P56,500
NIKON DSLR D7000 Kit 18-105mm - P68,000
NIKON DSLR D7000 Twin Lens Kit 18-55/55-200mm - P72,500

I wrote first the price, because, you might wanna consider it when choosing your desired DSLR Camera. In the United States, the price of the NIKON DSLR D5100 is around $899.95. Now, let's go ahead and check the features of this NIKON DSLR D5100.

NIKON DSLR D5100 KEY FEATURES

1. Horizontal swing-out, vari-angle LCD monitor that gives new viewpoints from flexible angles. -This allows you to shoot from a low angle or child's eye level, high angle, or shoot from overhead. Without sacrificing  the stability of your posture, even if you are shooting from ground level.

2. More beautiful and easier movie recording in full HD (1,920 x 1,080/30p) format: D-Movie -This allows you to record movies more easily and beautifully in FULL HD Movie-recording. You could also put in an optional Stereo Microphone ME-1 compatible. In also has an In-Camera Movie editing functions. Which means you can easily edit your movie, even if you don't have your laptop or pc with you.

3. Image reproduction with high resolution and rich tonal gradation, equivalent to those of a higher-class model -This is what I was talking about. The "EXPEED 2" Image sensor that you can get from the NIKON DSLR D7000 is the same Image sensor that NIKON DSLR D5100 is built-in. It gives high resolution, up to 16.2 Effective megapixels. It realizes noise reduction when shooting at a very high sensitivity range. It improved high-speed photo processing and much efficient energy savings. Its ISO Sensitivity is actually up to ISO 6400, that makes it effective even in low-light situations and moving subjects.

OTHER COOL EFFECTS:

There are so many cool effects! But, my favorite is the Night Vision effect, this gives you the capability to do night shooting at super-high sensitivity, up to ISO 102400 equivalent. It records black and white images. And, my other favorite is the Fish-eye effect that allows you to create images that resemble those taken using a fish-eye lens. These are just some of the great effects that you can get from the NIKON DSLR D5100. Now, let's check out the specs!

i would really love to have this camera but right now i can't afford it so i'm settling for Minimo-X. ;)

isp101 said...

@beyondrrr -Honestly, If photography is really in your blood, some professional photographer says that the outcome of the picture is not really in the camera, but, it's more on the person who is using it! Having a NIKON DSLR doesn't makes you a professional photographer, but of course, who will not want this pretty fancy camera?! hehehe! Tnx for dropping by! =)

@Anonymous -The cheapest price I found: NIKON D5100 KIT (18-55VR) W/ 4GB & BAG - P37,500 / BODY only -P32,500. =)

Unknown said...

where did you find the camera itself? saan po galing ung prices ng kit/body na binigay niyo po?

isp101 said...

@maelori krista -My cousin told me about this shop in Recto, here's their website: www.henryscameraphoto.com. They are the cheapest so far, mas mura pa, compared duon sa mga nakita ko sa sulit. Tnx for dropping by! =)

Unknown said...

no problem! legit ba yung store na yan? i mean, they don't go back on warranty stuff, right?

isp101 said...

@maelori krista -Well, I am not in any part of that company, so I can't really tell you about how they deal with warranty stuff. Pero duon kasi bumibili yung uncle at cousin ko eh.. So, far ok naman daw mga dslr's nila. If I would get one, duon rin ako kukuha for sure! =)

I got mine last week. wootwoot! :)
I bought it here in Korea, much cheaper (super cheaper) than the Philippine price.

So far, I'm still enjoying it! (aside from the manual written in Korean language). :(

I'm still new in photography. So Sir, can you give me some helpful links which can help me to improve my photography skills using my d5100.

Thank you sir! :)

isp101 said...

@Jeune Fille -Probably, magmumura pa ito within the next few months. Tnx for dropping by! =)

@Anonymous -Wow, that's nice to know! I get some photography tips from nikonusa.com and photo.net. Check it out! =)

I just noticed that the Price you posted are based on "Hidalgo" price list, D7000 is about 86,000+ in shopping mall and in Columbia (the only authorized dealer in the Philippines) buying from gray market like hidalgo is a risk in terms of warranty. FYI....

Macky

isp101 said...

@Anonymous (Macky) -Hi! I got the price list from this website: www.henryscameraphoto.com, because, this is the shop in "Hidalgo", where my uncle's and cousin bought their Dslr cameras. Warranty wise, I haven't heard any complaints from them, so far. But, of course, who would not want to buy from an Authorized dealer, right?! Warranty is much important, than the price. The price I posted above is not intended to promote any stores from the gray market, but, rather, just to give people an idea how much the cheapest Nikon d5100 and d7000. And, it could change without prior notice, since I believe, I wrote this article a couple of months ago (04/29/11). I just don't have time now to update most of my previous articles. But, Tnx for sharing, Macky, really appreciate it! Have a blessed day! =)

outstanding "prothusiast" D-SLR, solid upgrade from my D5000
As a long-time owner of the Nikon D5000, and former owner of the Nikon D60, I was eager to purchase the D5100 after seeing the announcements and pre-reviews. Being one of the lucky ones to buy the D5100 with 18-55VR kit earlier this week, I've had a few days to play with this camera and can honestly say it's a solid upgrade to the D5000

isp101 said...

@Ceska -That's awesome! Tnx for dropping by! =)

@Jomar Lipon -Ako rin Jomar, you're not alone, I still need to save more money, hopefully, within this year or early next year! Just save your online earnings for now, hehehe! =)

isp101 dude how are you, panu kaya maiiwasan yung fungus sa cams?

Anonymous said...

hi?? as of now magkano na kya yan?? pinagppilian ko kc kung mag D90 ako o D5100 na nikon camera, which is better??

Anonymous said...

Nikon D90 is a semi-pro camera which is really hard settings for a begginer. my friend brougth one last year and till now, he cannot find most of the great settings for a great view. last month i buy my D5100 and it was really good DSLR. What is CANON 600D or 550D which is really high resolution but not that good pictures. i wanted to own Sony DSLR580 but it was more expensive than D5100.

hi everyone, jopar here. just got my d5100 last may of this year at henry's a few bucks cheaper around hidalgo. d5100 is the new nikon's upper entry level on consumer dslr and sits between d3100 and d7000 on dx format. professional reviews ( particular those of nasim mansurov and ken rockwell reviews ) reveals that this d5100 inherited the best of d3100 and d7000 in fancy and easy to use modern dslr. which i found true. why will i fumble with so many settings in the middle of a shot wherein in you can have it short cut the process. am not a pro as well but after 3 months of using it on every occasions and situations i can leave home without this. i may leave my cellphone...but not my 5100. its lightweight, small body and ease of use characteristics makes me this a daily camera to carry leaving my d700 at home to be used only on some serious shots. d5100 will surely give you the best and serious photos once you mastered it. you can go manual or just point and shoot with proper settings and i recommend go manual or "A" ( aperture priority ). grab one for yourself, play with it, master it...you wont regret. anyway good photos are not done by cameras. it is you who made it. thanks

Hi! I'm currently here in Malaysia. I'm actually looking at nikon d5100, the cheapest i saw here was 2,193 ringgit or P32,895 sa pera natin includes the following: Kit 18-105mm, lens and screen protector, 8GB SDcard, tripod and a bag. Good buy na ba 'to? yun nga lng the warranty applies to Malaysia only. Hindi ako makapag-decide since this is my first time to buy a DSLR and i'm just a beginner, please help!

isp101 said...

@Anonymous -I'm ok, tnx for asking! Cleaning your cam regularly is the key, and avoid placing your cam in a dark and moist room...

@Anonymous -Mag d5100 kana lang, di ko sure magkano price sa mall eh, siguro medyo bumaba na ng kaunti...

@Anonymous - Well said, tnx for the info!

@Anonymous -Hello, Jopar! Tnx for the insights, it's really helpful! =)

@Anonymous -Wow, ang mura naman! Yang P32K mo, body palang yata yan ng d5100 kapag dito mo binili, hehehe! I suggest, you get it, di naman sirain ang DSLR, lalo na ang NIKON, maraming repair center dito.

jopar again....@ our kababayan in malaysia. i got my d5100 below php 30k with 18-55 kit lens. having 5100 with 18-105 kit lens your on a big deal. tama si isp 101 mura na yan. take it home. master its functions...search the internet... i recommend mansurov and ken rockwell site on this particular. best of all dont let that camera command you, just ask her to help you out to take good photos. remember there are no pro photographer!...they are just best with their own crafts. even these we call pro commits mistakes that they will not tell us. he he he. that is why they always shoot in burst! ( minimum of 4 frames / seconds to cover mistake if any. enjoy shooting.

at 1sp 101...thanks buddy. am just on the sidelines when it comes to issues like this. keep up the good work. God bless.

Anonymous said...

jopar again...@ kababayan in malaysia, korek si isp 101 on matters of di sirain ang dslr body. nikon and canon in particular will not let their reputation in dilemma...hope you know what i mean. the issue here is the LENS. the dslr/slr camera body has established its limitations in terms of shutter speed and ISO. now comes the lens...is it compatible with camera body and specs? just like an eyeglass...is the grade compatible with your eye for you to read well without pain. rule applied with camera body and lens. so watch out with your lens...there are problems that may arise. sabi ng iba ( magmumura pa ) alang kwenta daw ung kamera na nabili pagka mahal-mahal e out of focus naman...if thats the case perhaps the lens got some troubles. the issue of back or front focus....solution, re calibrate it. bring back the unit to your dealer to do the work. pero madalang yan. swerte mo pag sa yo nangyare. he he he joke kabayan. gandang araw...enjoy shooting pics.

Anonymous said...

nga pala...isp101 salamat sa approval ng mga post ko. san di ka madala he he he
